                                        Skype for your Windows

Microsoft has released a full version of a Skype app for the Windows Phone operating system. The free app, available in 18 languages, adds Windows Phone users to the 200 million people using Skype on computers, smartphones and tablets monthly.
Users can connect over the Internet telephony and chat service via 4G, 3G and Wi-Fi.  In beta from February, the formal app adds video calling in portrait mode and friend management capabilities including invite, accept invitations, block, and unblock contacts.

Microsoft's acquisition of Skype, an online video chat service accessible from computers and mobile phones, is important for multiple reasons beyond the boost to deal-making and business sentiment it provides through its size, $8.5 billion, all in cash. The stock market's initial reaction was negative, MS investors deeming the acquisition too pricey.

                                                     How it works

Group and one-to-one free video calling. Good sound and image quality. Get a bonafide inbound phone number. Low-rate calls to mobiles and landlines. Screen sharing. Messaging with photo and video sharing.

Skype is one of the cheapest VoIP services available, and it offers subscriptions with unlimited minutes.
